Darley Abbey was originally an Augustinian priory which was established in 1137, of which little remains today! In 1783 a huge mill was built by a Thomas Evans in the village of Darley Abbey and in 1830 Evans constructed a factory village of three story cottages which are seen here in typical Suddaby style.
