Matthey is Swiss born, refused to do his military service and after serving a prison sentence for this statement he left Switzerland for France and Africa. In 1974 he created with Mireille Bouille “Atelier des Clots” at Clots in Haute Savoie, the French Alps.
The “Atelier des Clots” is devoted to political statements, realism and militancy.
