This vintage poster for the Pantomime Cinderella, done in the 1950s is about a folk tale of the “unjust”.
The tale is ancient and appears around the world; China around 830, throughout Indonesia and Malaysia. In Europe the oldest version comes from Italy but the most popular is by Charles Perrault and then later by the Brothers Grimm in their collection of “Grimms’ Fairy Tales”.
The depiction in this vintage poster is obviously the pretty Cinderella with her two ugly sister and one is supposed to know the story.
